What if I told you that making your own product line was actually easy? It is easy with the right information and strategy in place, you can create a line easily and painless (true story).
Let me share with you 3 easy ways to create your own private label product line.
Tip #1: Identify the top 3 products that you want to create.
You need at three just in case you can’t actually find the supplier for them but no more than 5 products.
Many business owners want to start with a complete line of 10, 15 or 20 products. However, having no experience in product development and very little start up capital this strategy is a sure recipe for disaster. You’ll either burn money ordering samples and developing a few items out of the line or you’ll waste months trying to track down all of those products which will cause nothing but delays.
When you work with a short and focused list of products that you want to develop, then you have a better chance at creating products in a timely manner.
Make your list of products that you want to develop:
Product #1
Product #2
Product #3
and stick to it. Stop looking for the next big thing, just put your head down and focus.
Tip #2: Set a realistic time frame.
I know it’s a currently taught through books and on-line courses that you can have a product within 4 weeks, but for new business owners that are just starting out with their first private label product, I hesitate to say you can have a product ready in 4 weeks.
The first time always takes longer.
There are so many components that go into creating your own line.
- Finding & identifying the right fit of a supplier can take time.
- Creating your artwork & logo
- Choosing a brand name
- Getting labels created and printed
- Creating your secondary packaging including boxes and inserts
- Getting barcodes for each product
Tip #3: Create your marketing material now.
Creating as much of your marketing material now, while the product order is in production will save you a ton of time in the launching process. Below is a quick list of items that you need to have:
- If you are an Amazon seller or online retailer, you need to get your product description together
- Photos created – both web ready for your listings and marketing handouts
- Any insert literature or samples of other products
Creating your first line is an exciting time! And with practice and focus you can get your product done quickly!
If you need help, maybe Speed Product Creation Course is the next step for you. It’s a 4 week course (with only 20 slots) designed to take you from idea to finished product. We work hand-in-hand sourcing manufacturers and getting your products done. We just started the next round on May 12th but it’s not too late to sign up!

Hi, I have some recipes and handmade labels for my all natural/organic soaps. Currently, I am working with a graphic designer or a logo. I have a Tradename registered with the State of MD and I have a Federal tax ID#.
I am looking for professional labels to meet FDA marketing approval guideline for my soaps, facial spa clays and dead sea salt scrubs, please? Any advice is appreciated.
